Borrowing from the Thirsty/Hungry Cyclists map, the Approved Eateries criteria is that it must have an 'eyes on the bike' setup. This can be an outdoor patio, or window seating indoors.

They must be located within 5km of the Network (Trans Canada Bike Route Network).
